Camping at the Cottonwood Grove Campsite

Because our goal is to give you the deepest immersion possible in the 3HO way of life and to have you cultivate your own cozy community as student-teachers within the local Mother Ashram, we encourage participants to camp on the grounds of Hacienda de Guru Ram Das, enjoy communal meals, and support one another through the process of the course.  In this way, Ashram members will be able to join with you for sadhana, meditations, meals and video classes.

Every participant will need to bring and set up their own tent at the Cottonwood Grove campsite (unless you wish to rent a tent). Included later in this packet is a map of the campground and surrounding area. Tent placement will be organized in a designated village setting.  Rental tents are available to rent for $100 for the six days on a first come, first served basis, with limited single and twin-sharing tents available.

For an addition cost there are also a limited number of rooms available for rent in homes of ashram members.  If you are interested in this option, please let us know and we will provide you with more information

Cottonwood Grove Campsite – What to expect

It may take you two to three days to acclimate to the elevation and dry environment of Northern New Mexico. We are here in the high desert (5600 feet in elevation) so bring a water bottle and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration and always have sunscreen and a hat with you. Daytime temperatures can rise into the high 90s and occasionally go over 100. The nights will be much cooler and sudden intense rainstorms can occur.

The campsite is located on the Ashram grounds in a residential area of Espanola. The site provides tent sites with electrical hook up available (you will need your own outdoor extension cord), simple showers and toilets, Sadhana and classroom areas, meditation areas, and beautiful, scenic walking paths are located within a half a mile.
